Great Machine September 2, 2010 For what it is the Weedeater One is a great workhorse. I have a medium to small yard with a few bumps here and there. I got this mower because I was tired of pushing and taking so long. Now I get the lawn cut in half the time. The only little thing is on the bumps the blade will bog down. My fix is raise the cutting deck in that area to compensate. So far no problems after three mowings.
Weedeater One August 28, 2010 Rebecca Finally, the mower arrived, and assembly of seat and steering wheel was done. Cranked well, however, the decking mounting was lodged on top of the motor guard lip. My sister and I had to totally remove the decking and move it forward off the lip and reinstall the decking. One of the bolts bent and now the mower rattles when the blade is engaged. However I really like the small size, it handles well, cuts nicely. I will keep it, but someone needs to send a note to the factory about the decking problem.
disappointed August 22, 2010 satsuma after one time of mowing and another day of half mowing my small lawn have to take it in for repair just dosen't sound right contact the repair shop think it's the carburetor call a week later told it's not that but could be the crank shaft have to order that part a brand new machine and already i have these kind of problems i can only cross my fingers and toes that these problems will fix it if i had a way to ship it back and get a whole new machine i would do in a heart beat had to bother a neighbor to take the machine to the repair shop since don't own a truck going on not having it for almost 3 weeks or more unhappy is putting is mildly
Great Mower for the Money August 20, 2010 D. Rogers (San Saba, TX) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've used the WE-ONE now about 5 times on my 1/3-acre well groomed yard since I got it. Not a bad mower for the price. It's not perfect but not bad.
The Good:
- Fits in the same space my push mower does.
- Mows in reverse.
- Turns good even in a smaller space.
- Engine is in the rear, no heat or exhaust fumes.
The Bad:
- Needs adjustments right out of the box to make sure mower deck is level and to make sure it will go up a hill properly.
- Sometimes it leaves a small "ridge" in the cut path when mowing taller grass and requires you to sort of "double mow" in that area.
- Seems underpowered at first but it does the job and you get used to it.
- Have to be careful when backing up that you don't stop too abruptly as it has all the weight in the back and wants to tip backwards a bit.
Other comments:
My yard has a small slope on one side. When I first ran the WE-ONE up the slope it stopped about halfway up and wouldn't go any more. I weigh about 200-lbs. I found a review on the Wal-Mart website where a guy described adjusting the little lever that sets the forward speeds. He loosened 1 bolt in the middle of that arm and moved the arm forward slightly and then tightened the bolt. I tried it and problem solved. It goes uphill just fine now. Not sure why that isn't set at the factory properly. I also noticed the mower deck wasn't level but it's a simple adjustment.
Mower cuts my yard in about 45-minutes and uses about a quart of gasoline. The cut is good but sometimes I have to quickly mow over the same area twice to make sure the cut is even. I have lots of trees and garden area to navigate around and being able to mow in reverse is a great thing. I found out the hard way after the first use that you have to turn the key to the "ROV" position or it won't mow in reverse. D'oh! Overall it is fun to use and after you figure out all the little quirks in the first couple of mows you will love it.
