Product Description The Neuton CE6 Mower gives you the powerful performance of a gas mower with convenience of DURACELL battery technology. There is no gas or oil to spill and no engine emissions to pollute the air. Neuton is the only mower powered by DURACELL. With 360 watt-hours of battery energy, it has plenty of power to mow through even tall, wet grass. The Neuton CE 6 mower is ideal for lawns up to 1/3 acre (about 15,000 sq. ft.) on a single charge. If you need more time, just drop in an optional spare battery and keep mowing.

Edger/Trimmer August 29, 2010 mad hatter CE6 is a great mower. CE6 is easy to use. One battery on lasted one season. Where do you recycle them?
Must have two batteries.
The Edger trimmer is totally worthless!! Very difficult to mount on mower and more difficult to change the angle of the edger.
Reliability Concerns August 28, 2010 Timothy J. Klanderud (Arnold, MD USA) I purchased my neuton lawnmower three years ago (CE 6.2 model). Of course, one area that may be of concern is long-term reliability. How long will my Neuton lawnmower last? I know that a good gas lawn mower will last for a number of years if properly maintained. Well, being that the Neuton is an electronically powered unit, components will fail if over-stressed and that is what happened to me. Fortunately, it is under warranty and Neuton had it repaired for me (no charge; great, quick support). So, I have probably more years with it. However, I will caution you that you should not try and force the Neuton to run hot, which means: (1) Do not wait for the grass to grow too long; (2) If you have thick crabgrass, cut high and if necessary cut a second time; and (3) Do not cut when wet ... if the grass is damp after a morning dew or after rain, either cut it later in the day when it drys out or on another dry day. If you follow these steps, religiously, I'm sure that the mower will last for a long time (5-10 yrs or longer with battery replacements). I am taking extra caution now that my Neuton has a second life. I do like the Neuton and would buy another one if I can get at least another three years out of this one (maybe the newer model, 6.4, has improved on its operation which I would rate as good for the 6.2). Two things that I don't like about the mower is that grass does clump up at times when mulching and will bog down in thick grass or weeded areas (especially in crabgrass ... do I ever hate the crabgrass!!! and I just cannot get rid of it! Respond to this if you have any absolute solutions to solving my crabgrass problem ... I've tried weed control ... it keeps coming back again and again).
Practical Lightweight Mower - cheap to operate August 7, 2010 NicP I highly recommend a Neuton mower!
I've had mine for almost a year now, and it works great. It's light, so it's easier to push than a gas mower. And it has plenty of power to handle thick wet grass.
It takes about 4 hours to charge each battery (I have two). I've measured the charging current at 0.2 A on the wall voltage side. This means that the charger is consuming about 24 Watts while charging the battery. Over 4 hours, this translates into 0.096 kWh.
Bottom Line: At 8 cents a kWh, it takes less than 1 penny to charge a battery!
Neuton CE 6.5 July 6, 2010 R. Chew (Sacramento, CA) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
Don't waste your money! I purchased the Neuton CE 6.4 lawnmower through our local utility company, as they tried to entice weekend warriors to go green by trading in their gas mowers with the cordless Neuton mower, which they sold at a discount. Well, I fell for the sucker punch. This worthless, whimpy plastic Neuton doesn't have the power to generate suction to vaccum the grass clippings. Most of it gets thrown out, and if your front lawn is adjacent to the sidewalk, like mine, then you spent the more time sweeping and blowing than mowing. If you have a sizeable yard, forget it. The battery depletes before you can finish your job. Did I mention how cheap this piece of crap is? I purchased the mower in March 2010, and, with only once a week use, already the Power/Mode switch is broken, and it won't start. I had to borrow my neighbor's gas mower this weekend. I plan to scrap this piece of junk and donate it to local charity and buy another muscle gas mower.
Poor Manufacturing / Short Life July 2, 2010 Ex-NeutronUser 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is the type of product that can damage Amazon's brand only by association. Before buying a Neuton, be sure to do what I did not and locate and investigate reviews from a number of sources. Similar problems are so common that the truth eventually becomes obvious and the sincerity of the reviewers becomes unquestionable. I don't know if it is proper to mention those sites here, so I won't.
Typically - and specifically in my case - after about 6 uses, my (new) Model EM 5.1 stopped working. Naturally, since there are so few parts, I assumed it to be a battery problem. This solution is nearly always offered by Neuton support as documented in so many reviews elsewhere. So, in spite of the short life, (and after letting the unit sit out the rest of the season), I ordered a battery. Now I have two batteries, neither of which, though new or nearly new, are worth selling due to the cost of shipping.
Finally, reading the reviews lead me to believe that customer service would not provide additional advice of value, I gave up on it. Now, not concerned about a warranty issue and out of curiosity I asked a mechanic to look into the motor and he said that it was either very old or poorly constructed. Obviously, the fact that I did not bother to contact support has nothing to do with a poorly built motor.
Arguments for buying a Neuton closely follow the reasons for buying any electric mower in general. A short-lived electric device, however does more to damage the environment than help it. As is so often the case with green products, as consumers, our good intent does not guarantee any thing more than that we spend money. Now I must dispose of batteries, electric motor and plastic and metal parts.
